Block Move-Out Overview

Process name “Blockem”

Perform high resolution normal move-out with no stretch effects. Block Moveout is performed on pre-stack uncorrected CMP gathers. The output from this tool is moveout corrected CMP gathers that can then be stacked.

Time and space variant functions allow control over move-out in 3D. A mute is typically applied to the block moved-out CMP gather. The mute can be wider than a mute for regular normal moveout since no stretch occurs in the output trace.

This tool is used in shallow engineering data to give a better stack. The stretch effects are reduced in the shallow data. It also corrects for hyperbolic cross-over, when shallow unconsolidated sediments overlay a hard/fast reflector.
